About Me
- Mr. Ed
- I'm 70 years old and have lived in the Akron-Tallmadge, Ohio area all of my life. For 10-years (1957-1967) I lived most summers at our home in Cook Forest, Pa. I'm a U.S. Army veteran (1971-1973). I collect many things such as: antique cars, antique firearms, movies, movie props, old newspapers and posters, Wyatt Earp items, Civil War items, John Wayne items, items from the old west including Native American items, just about anything historical. I've been married for 47-years. My wife and I have a son and a daughter and three granddaughters and two great grandchildren.

I didn't want the hardware store painted. I wanted it to appear a "newer" building. However, it needed to be weathered as bare wood would be. So I decided to stain it "Golden Oak". I use this shade a lot for unpainted weathered wood. The interior of the hardware store will remain "new" wood.

I still have a ways to go...
This town block is getting finished, however, I still have a ways to go. Making and installing a few doors, cutting out the roof, and making some furnishings and finally, doing the interiors. The boardwalk roof on this set are a little more angled downword then some of the other buildings that I have done. When building a town like this it is good to create differant styles and looks to the buildings so they won't appear to have been built by the same people. In the old west the buildings in town were built by local builders and many were built by the same people that would operate the bussinesses in those buildings. So the looks of each structure was differant. The styles such as windows, doors, siding, facades, etc. should always be differant.
-
I got the boardwalk roof stained.
-
I wanted to do something a little differant with the facade to the toy store, so I found one of my steel chisels that had a weird tip and I used it as a punch for a diamond design.
-
-
-
The facade is glued in place.

The lawyer's office is small. (He's a new lawyer right out of law school). This building will represent a newly sided building that has not been painted yet. The siding will be hap-hazard because this lawyer has not made a lot of money yet. So he's doing the best he can.
-
The inside of the lawyer's office is small and has only a few small touches of being fancy such as the roundings in the upper moldings on the window and door.
-
-
The sign is carved and mounted on the lawyer's office. The lawyer's name is "Bradley Swindell". Get it? Drop off the last "L" and you have "Swindel."
